An unarmed 19 year old man has been shot and killed by a police officer in South Carolina.Zachary Hammond was on a first date when the police blockaded his car, drew his weapon, and shot Zachary two times. Originally reported as a self-defense shooting, after two autopsies this case has now been ruled a homicide.
The officer involved, Lt. Mark Tiller is accused of removing something from his own patrol car and placing it in Hammond’s had after the shooting. When additional officers arrived, they celebrated the shooting along with Tiller. One of which, Officer Anthony Moon, purportedly raised Hammond’s hand and gave it a “celebratory high-five” according to a lawsuit that Zachary Hammond’s family has filed in Federal Court.
The 20 page Complaint describes in detail the events that unfolded on the night of Zachary’s death. “I’ll blow your F#&&*#@ head off,” were the last words heard by Zachary Hammond as Lt. Mark Tiller of the Seneca Police Department yelled into the open driver’s side window of Zachary’s 2002 Silver Honda Civic in the parking lot of a Hardee’s restaurant on July 26, 2015.” Also described in detail, the Complaint paints a step by step picture that shows the Zachary was not attempting to flee the scene, nor was he attempting to run down the officer, he was not armed or disobeying any commands.
Zachary’s parents want and deserve justice for their son. All net proceeds from this campaign will be sent directly to the attorney the family has hired, to help aid in their legal pursuit for justice.
