Remember this is the governor that recently told us – specifically anyone who is pro-traditional marriage, pro-life or pro-guns – we "have no place in the state of New York." This overzealous quest by the Attorney General and the Governor using every available asset, to persecute hard working citizens of New York is another step in their plan to silence freedom loving people.
This attack on Kordell highlights what the New York Times Editorial called "Rampant Prosecutorial Misconduct" in an editorial from January. "Fighting prosecutorial misconduct is not only about protecting the innocent. It is, .... about preserving “the public’s trust in our justice system,” and the foundation of the rule of law."
Help us protect and defend Kordell Jackson and his family. He needs you now more than ever.
Statement from Kordell Jackson’s Legal Team – Attorney Paul Ciminelli, Esq. and retired Monroe County Court Judge Patricia Marks
“Our client was a licensed dealer who operated his business in accordance with all state and federal laws,” Ciminelli said. “This action by the State Attorney General is not about gun control. This case is about fundamental fairness and knowing what the law permits and prohibits.”
“The Safe Act, through its vague language, makes potentially every law-abiding citizen a criminal,” Ciminelli said. “More than half of this small business owner’s customer base is either active or retired law enforcement officers, which underscores the egregious injustice in this matter.”
“I spent more than 34 years as a prosecutor and judge in the criminal justice system. I came out of retirement because I am outraged about what is happening to Kordell Jackson and my concern for justice in this matter.” Patricia Marks said.
Kory Jackson was a small business owner in Western New York for almost two decades. As the only African American Gun Shop Owner in New York State, Kory and his family worked diligently to pursue their dreams.
Now he stands charged with multiple felonies under the Safe Act that could result in Kory spending the rest of his life in prison.
