Support Ismael Chamu

Ismael Chamu is currently a Senior at the University of California Berkeley. Hailing from Los Banos High School with a graduating GPA of 4.5 and being accepted to 17 different Universities and Colleges, Ismael's dream was to be the first in his family to Graduate High School and go to College and he made that possible. Of humble beginnings from a migrant farm working family Ismael has always placed his family and community before him.
Once in college Ismael immediately became a friend and Activist. Organizing with fellow students and families in UC Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco Ismael has been a supporter and fighter for social change. Ismael is currently one of the youngest certified Substitute Teachers for West Contra Costa, he has served as President and Founder of the Pre-Law Coalition for Social Justice at UC Berkeley, a Director for United Children of immigrants, and a scholar.
All the while, Ismael was one of the many students at CAL that faced Homelessness and food insecurity. This summer Ismael found housing and a restaurant job, things finally seemed to be working out. However, the night of June 27th 2017 Ismael fell victim to the injustices of the police. After being incarcerated and thus missing work, Ismael lost his only source of income and is now facing financial risks. He needs our support to pay rent, groceries and legal fees during this emotionally and mentally difficult time of his life. Any amount would bring great relief to the overwhelming stress that Berkeley Police and Legal System has brought against Ismael.
Let's not let another one of our youth, another one of our brothers fall prey to the machine of injustice. Any support, emotionally and or financially, is much appreciated.
With much Love and Peace
