Why you should support Civilian Led Policing
Effective policing must address the causes of crime and set long term goals that have the best interests of the people in mind. The Civilian Led Policing organization aims to make that a reality by implementing the Civilian Led Policing model in cities across the United States. In order to do this, they have already started to build networks across the country, introducing the model to people and building the infrastructure needed for implementation. In the next few months, Civilian Led Policing staff and volunteers will be traveling to cities all across the country to help local organizers figure out how they can implement this model. With your help, they will be able to hire the staff they need to succeed and to pay for other expenses such as travel costs.
What is the Civilian Led Policing Model?
The Civilian Led Policing model is based around independent, civilian commissions which are chosen via a volunteer lottery system with equitable representation. The civilian commissions give the public safety commissioner direction with policy standards and best practices. They will take a holistic approach to pull ideas from many disciplines in order to actualize the long term best interests of the community.
