"My name is Brittany!! I was a stay at home mom for about 5 years now, almost 6. Unfortunately, I was in an abusive relationship. My biggest regret was not leaving sooner for the sake of myself and my kids. However, it is difficult to leave a relationship.
It got to a point where he got increasingly angry, threatened to burn the house down with the kids and I in it + shut the water off because I wouldn't sleep with him.
There is now a protective order for 6 months that protects me but not the children. :(
Just recently he has begun telling my oldest child things such as where we are living now [wth my parents] is not my child's home, among other things. My oldest has begun saying things like:
"Daddy is going to buy me a phone, so I can call him. And if mommy is being mean he can pick me up"
"Daddy said I can go there whenever I want, and he will pick me up" <-- anytime my 5 year old gets upset this is said.
Obviously this is being DRILLED into our poor child's head. I am actively seeking therapy/help for him. I've been called a whore, piece of shit, easy, skank, bitch, cunt etc ALL in front of my kids. They don't deserve to see their mother treated like that, now I have to focus on fixing the idea that a man speaking like that to a woman is normal.
Of course I moved out into my mother's home because I no longer felt safe at his house. Now I am a single mom with very low income, so any help towards a custody lawyer would be god send. Everything I do, I am doing for the boys.
