The removal of the bronze statues of three heroic military heroes and cultural icons of the Southern United States, that happened in the City of New Orleans between April 23 and May 20 of this year, does not merely concern the destruction of antique art, statuary, or public memorials to honored leaders of the past.
The City’s violent, indeed terrorist assisted, police sniper supported the assault on history is nothing less than a major Orwellian step towards total thought tyranny, the suppression and manipulation of memory by State command and control fiat.
The first monument to be removed had a purely historical and political rather than biographical focus, in fact: the Battle of Liberty Place Obelisk stood until the morning of April 24, 2017, in memory of a New Orleans Citizens’ popular uprising in 1874 against local political and economic corruption imposed and supported by an occupying army.
All monuments to Southern Confederate history commemorate rebellion in defense of local self-government and individual liberty.
We ask your help to restore the Ruins of New Orleans, to restore our true Cultural Environment. We are seeking to intervene in Court proceedings to use Civil Rights and Environmental Law to retake and redeem our world, the true Heart of Dixie.
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
George Orwell, "1984"---who could imagine he saw Mitch Landrieu and Malcolm Suber taking over New Orleans seventy years ago?
