Thank you for taking the time to view this fundraising effort. I am Shannon Benjamin, proud wife of the accused; Leslie "Ray" Benjamin.
It is my hope that when you have finished reading our story, you will willingly donate to help us help Ray. If you are unable to donate, a simple share will help emensly.
My husband, Ray, is an amazing man, husband, father, and grandfather. Ray has now 7 beautiful children, the eldest being 23 the youngest being 8 months old. He has bee an amazing father to all of his children. Though I have only known and been with Ray for 12 years, I have had the pleasure of watching him with his children. Anyone who says there is no person born with the natural gift of being a father, hasn't met my husband.
That being said, here is what happened. Please note that this is only a summary of what happened, and not all the facts will be included.
On January 12, 2017, Ray Benjamin was interviewed with regards to allegations made by MY daughter (Ray's stepdaughter of 12 years) of sexual abuse. Unfortunately, through the art of manipulation, they were able to arrest Ray with absolutely NO evidence to substantiate my daughter's claims against him.
This was all put into motions weeks before our return the the area (where my daughter had been remanded to live after several altercations a year before) and we had only been back in the area for at most 2 weeks. Prior to his interview and subesquent arrest, I was physically assaulted by my daughter and therefore had her arrested. On police report she idicated that she had already been in touch with local suthorities regarding her allegations (this i found to have occured 3 weeks prior to her assault on me).
Throughout the course of law enforcement interviews, they failed to interview key people/witnesses that would affirm that Ray was not this monster my daughter had made him out to be. Even her own grandparents believe her to be a liar as shown 2 months later when faced with the fact that she was not believed, she returned the favor by assaulting her grandfather. Both assaults were washed away on the basis of trauma.
It has been near 6 months, there is no evidence to substiate her claims, yet the plea offers from the Prosecution has been awful. Ray's first Public Defender was extremely lazy and told me that I had accept that he will go to jail..."wait, you're suppose to work to defend him, not prosecute him." So he recused himself from the case. The second Public Defender had to recuse himself as he was freshly out of the D.A.'s office and could not represent Ray. Ray is now on his third Public Defender and he believes ther may be hope. However, one thing I have learned about the county justice system is that they are not interested in right verses wrong, they seem only interested in dollar signs.
Therefore it is our belief that we need an attorney that is outside the area to represent Ray to the best of their ability.
Please understand, I have seen the statements made against my husband. I was given statements verbally by my daughter before she physically abused me for not believing her. I know my daughter and I know my husband. I offered therapy to my daughter, she recanted her claims saying "he's my dad and would never do that".
I plead to anyone who has ever been falsely accused or know someone who has to please donate to our cause. We need the best attorney to bring Ray home to his children and grandchildren.
