Sue the Commission on Presidential Debates

More than half of Americans now say they no longer identify with either of the two parties that control our federal government.  So, shouldn’t our nationally televised “Official Debates” include other parties?
Have you ever wondered why they don’t?
It’s because the official-sounding and acting Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) is, in reality, a private organization created in 1987 by the Republican and Democratic parties.  It is funded by special interests whose goal is to protect the status quo, so it is no surprise that the Debate Commission has adopted “rules” that make it virtually impossible for an independent or third-party candidate to ever participate in the only nationally televised Presidential Debates.
In 2012, FOUR candidates achieved the ballot access needed to be mathematically able to win the election but ONLY TWO were on the “Official Debates” stage – the Democrat and the Republican.   Gary Johnson, the Libertarian nominee and Jill Stein, the Green Party nominee were excluded from the 2012 Debates.
Just as they had done since 2000, the Commission on Presidential Debates used arbitrarily selected polls to determine participation in the 2012 debates.  The pollsters and media focused on the Democratic and Republican candidates to the extent that most pre-election polls didn't even include other candidates.  Many people assumed the other two ballot-qualified candidates “couldn’t win the election” because they were excluded from the polls – and subsequently, the debates.  But they COULD WIN. .
Polling criteria is neither a necessary nor unbiased method for determining Presidential Debate inclusion.  Why should the Presidential Debate stage exclude anyone who can win the Electoral College vote?
Historically, the maximum number of candidates in the US who achieved enough ballot access to win the Electoral College vote was seven.  The Republican debates had more participants than that in 2015 and in previous elections.
Join the fight and support the excluded 2012 candidates - Jill Stein, Gary Johnson, their campaigns, the Green and the Libertarian parties to fight for Fair Debates for ALL candidates of the future.  This lawsuit would not be possible without their sacrifices and your support.  Your contribution to help fund the lawsuit against the Commission on Presidential Debates could be the single most important contribution YOU can make to our future in the United States of America.  Things will never change until we have a chance to hear fresh perspectives from other viable parties.
Let them debate!
