Our first campaign, Help Us Get Our Daughter Back! Fell short of our goal, but was still a significant help in the first stage of our legal battle. However, as the case progresses, the costs have increased dramatically:
We have paid our lawyers initial retainer of $1200. Our last invoice billed out at $1475, meaning we have a balance due of $275.
We have paid the guardian ad litem's initial retainer of $750. There hasn't been an updated invoice as of yet, however her fees are capped at $3000.
We now have a mediation session pending. Our share of the mediator's fees are $125 an hour, with a two hour minimum and a flat $25 expense fee, and no set maximum. Additionally, our lawyer is billing $300 for mediation prep. Thus, NLT 1 Dec, we have to pay out at least $850, but possibly a good bit more than that. We received this some of this information just a few days ago -- and some we received just today.
Those of you who donated to our cause during the last round: I could not possibly ask you to donate again. I deeply, deeply appreciate every single dollar you gave. Those who could not: If your circumstances have changed, I would appreciate your consideration. If they have not, I would appreciate your positive thoughts.
