Amanda had the misfortune of being convicted of murder when her daughter accidentally drowned. You see she had no resources, no property and no money or savings. Our criminal justice system is unfair to the poor and disinfranchised. Amanda was convicted on the testimony of her 5 year old son who gave conflicting accounts and was confused. The prosecution exploited this child for its own purposes. Amanda was represented by a public defender who failed to call expert witnesses to refute the flimsy evidence used to convict her. Her entire conviction is based on a 1 minute video that the police made while inappropriately interrogating AJ the 5 year old boy. AJ refused to testify to what he said in the video in her actual trial so the judge allowed the video to be shown.
Amanda has lost her life with a LWOP sentence. She has no means to hire an attorney and we need to help her.
