****** UPDATE *****
My dad has been extradited to Houston, Texas.   He arrived on 6/30 after 12 days of travel and being out of communication with everyone.  He is remaining strong and we are looking forward to a quick resolution to this situation.  We have more information about the victim of the crime as well as information about the alleged assailant.  According to police, the person that committed the murder was a person with a 3" scar on his face.  Leon has no such scar.  The person also worked at a motel in Houston.  Leon was never in Houston to work a job.  The person apparently had either an artificial eye or one that was severely deformed.  Leon does not. Any help you can provide in helping with attorney's fees, time missed from work to clear up this injustice and travel down to Texas from Ohio is greatly appreciated.  Even if you cannot afford to give, please share so we can get Leon's story to people who may have the means to help...

My Dad, Leon Dudley, is currently being held in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland), OH jail awaiting extradition on a 1979 Murder warrant from Harris County (Houston), Texas. He has lived in Cleveland his entire life.  He is a Vietnam Vet who served his nation and wouldn't hurt a fly. The warrant was issued in 1979 and since that time my father has gotten speeding tickets, owned property, paid taxes, and renewed his driver's license. There is absolutely no reason that 37 years has had to go by in order for the authorities to locate someone who has not been hiding. In addition to this, the physical description of the "man" indicted for the crime does not match in  any way.  The "defendant" is allegedly 6'1" tall, my dad is 5'9".  The "defendant" has a dark brown complexion and a scar on his left cheek.  My dad is most definitely not dark brown and does not have a scar on his left cheek.  The "defendant" allegedly was of heavy build and weighed approximately 250lbs in 1979. My dad weighed a mere 150lbs until he quit smoking in the late 1990s.   The Texas attorney that my family wishes to retain for this matter is requesting a $20,000 retainer fee; money that my family does not have. We're hoping to get this matter sorted out quickly but cannot do that without first hiring an attorney. The logistics of this case are daunting as my entire family lives in Ohio and will, presumably, have to travel back and forth to Texas for hearings and visitations until this gets sorted out. We will have to foot our own travel expenses such as hotel stays, rental cars and plane fare.
