Time to parole Sam Philpot

In 1988 Sam was convicted of aggrivated murder following an incident involving a friend of his who accidentally discharged a gun at a park and killed an individual playing basketball on a nearby court.  This was a truly horrible accident and Sam, a kid who had never been in any type of trouble prior to this unfortunate incident was incarcerated, falsely linked to gang activity in the area and forced to defend himself against the most severe charges the prosecuter could impose even though he was not the perpatrator and was basically at the wrong place at the wrong time.  Eventually Sam was convicted and sentenced to 23 yrs to life in prison, which was a bit of a surprize as he had no prior criminal record, he was merely at the scene and was truly remorseful for the incident.
Sam has been in prison for 30+ years, surpassing his original release date by 7 years.  He's been up for parole twice, each time denied even though he's been a model inmate, mentoring young inmates and earning medical certification while working in the medical ward of the institution.  Opting to engage in service over the many years of his incarceration opposed to sitting idle like so many others.  During Sam's decades of incarceration he's lost his mother, father, grandmother and countless friends and relatives but remains remorseful for the events on the fateful day in 1986.  We feel that he has paid his debt to society and deserves another chance at freedom.  We need assistance in providing him with proper representation when he goes back in front of the parole board in 2020 so we're trying to raise as much as possible.  Please help, every dollar counts!!!  You can also reach out to Priscilla Philpot Clark at: priscillaclark68@yahoo.com
