Please consider helping my family raise money for my little brothers legal funds as his grandparents fight to provide him with a safe home.
As many of you know, my little brother came into our family as our first foster placement back in 2010 and stayed with us for one day shy of a year. He was a mind-blowingly smart, incredibly passionate, sweet as can be little kid. There is no questioning the indescribably important place he holds in our family and in my life.
After a couple of stable years back with his mom, the situation has deteriorated quickly. There have been multiple reports to DSS and countless calls for help by our boy himself and the system is continuing to fail him. His biological grandparents are currently fighting within the legal system in hopes of gaining temporary or permanent custody, but with a months-long trial unfolding before them and sure signs of appeal after they finally win, legal fees are overwhelming. Getting him into a stable, safe home is just the first of many steps toward his healing, but it is arguably the most important.
Besides his enticing and lovable aspects (seemingly unending knowledge of butterflies, golf, and fishing; an amazingly cute, one-dimpled smile; intelligence and wisdom beyond his years; a class presidency won on the platform of more time outside; the list goes on…), he is a child who is inherently worthy and deserving of a safe home where he does not have to live in fear, anger, and discomfort.
It has been four years since I have been able to see him and not a day goes by in which I don't wish that I will soon be allowed to be a part of his life and begin building a relationship with him again.
