On June 6, 2017, Jesse L. Henson was arrested for self defense.
A disagreement arose between him and another male, the male proceeded to punch Jesse in the face, with a chain wrapped in his fist. This resulted in Jesse's nose being cut and bloodied. Jesse then pulled out his pocket knife, in case of needing it to defend himself, and phoned the Wichita Falls police dept. stating he was calling because he had been assaulted.
When the WFPD arrived, they handcuffed Jesse, and arrested him. He was later booked in around midnight, at the jail and charged with aggravated assault.
In the eyes of the law, Jesse did assault someone. Although Jesse didn't actually cause anyone harm, and did do the right thing by calling the police.
According to Texas Penal Code §22.02, the offense of aggravated assault consists of:
- Intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causing serious bodily injury to another person or;
- Using or exhibiting a deadly weapon in the course of committing any assault crime, including threatening another with bodily injury or engaging in conduct that the victim will likely find offensive.
Those who know Jesse, know he is not a violent individual. Jesse has been sitting in the Wichita County Jail Annex, for almost 9 days now. All Jesse did, was pull out his pocket knife and call the police. He called the police to report the assault/injury inflicted upon himself, trying to do the right thing and was charged. The other man is not in jail, he has been free since the incident happened. He claimed he would "call and drop the charges," but I'm pretty sure he hasn't or Jesse would be out by now.
Jesse's cheapest bond amount so far, is 1,300 through Buddy's Bail Bonds. I'm asking for that amount, and not a penny more.

Jesse probably will not be out in time to spend Father's Day with his son this year, he's been begging me to find a way to get him out, too.I'm hoping we can have him out before his birthday, and mine too. I don't want him missing anymore birthdays/family holidays over something he didn't do. Any and all help is appreciated, if you can't donate, sharing helps too.
