Got the courage to leave, please help me divorce!

My name is Melanie and after 28 years of an abusive marriage I finally got the courage to leave! I'm a school teacher and don't make much money so I hired an attorney who would do it for $1000 and have been making monthly payments to him. My ex told me he would bankrupt me and make me come crawling back on my hands and knees with my tail between my legs so he is contesting everything including filing a motion for me to pay him $1000 a month toward marital debt when I already am paying marita debt. Because he's contesting my attorney is now going to cost me $7500 and I do not have this kind of money. He's also not helping me with expenses for our daughter who lives with me. This has been horrible, which I expected, but I never expected him to be quite this awful. Please help me get away from him and close the book on this chapter of my life so I can move on and be happy!
